Blessing of the Fleet

Each June at the start of the summer season is the Blessing of the Fleet. There is a short service and then the fleet passes and is blessed. A nice little boat parade of mixed vessels. Even dingy sailboats all in a row. The island queen pictured is my favorite ferry boat but it's looking a bit beat up this year. I think it's had a few rubs on the dock? The weather was just perfect with blue sky and very pleasant temps in the 70's. Just wonderful for a Sunday afternoon. The season starts and we are already heading toward the big Fourth of July week a few short weeks away.

What a fine and appropriate tradition for a "nautical" community and an inland sea area. The boats are colorful and varied .....all sizes and capabilities on the lake. The event seems to grow every year in participation and viewer attendance. Look forward to next year!
