It's here like it or not?

Almost right on time winter has come calling. When does winter start? Meteorological winter started on December 1st.Astronomical winter starts with the winter solstice which occurs some time between December 21 and December 22 each year and is the shortest day of the year.

Hi,

You certainly have an interesting blog site. I've enjoyed browsing the many topics. However, I couldn't help but notice a reference to some serious storm damage near Drummond, WI on one of your posts. Severe thunderstorms in 1999 apparently pounded this area. Could you describe the impacted area more specifically (i.e. coordinates or so many miles northwest of Drummond, etc)? I would really appreciate it because I'm a research ecologist using historical satellite imagery to study the spatial patterns of blowdown damage in forests. One area of interest is northwestern Wisconsin. I could really use a detailed description to confirm changes I'm detecting on the satellite imagery.

Thanks,

Kirk
