The Bear was waving?? Where is the bird food???

A small bear showed up this evening and seems to wave to draw attention to the fact there was no bird food in the feeders for him to eat. Disappointed he headed down the woods to the next property in hopes that their feeders are full. He was small, about 150lbs.

Sunset Deer

Standing in the middle of the road with the sun setting behind was a doe.The wildlife this weekend was everywhere. Fox,deer and many bear. Spotted one 400lb male bear right near Bayfield's city limits. Saw other smaller bears. The local residents of Bayfield are well aware of the bears and their paths into and out of town. Big papa bear was very curious, I talked to him from the safety of the car window and he just looked at me from 25 yards away. A bear that size really makes you think.I wasn't going for a walk that was for certain. I got a picture but it was very near dusk and I only got his backside.

Reiten Boat Yard Gardens

Just a wonderful garden so I thought I'd add another shot of the work being done to make Bayfield more beautiful. Get off of the Main street and stroll around town. There are many interesting things to see.

Not invited to the party

Buddy the bear wasn't invited to the deck party and was told to leave. He wasn't on the list of
guests and was dismayed by the fact he couldn't get a snack. As he walked away he turned and gave a look of disgust. OK he said, I'll return to the woods. But I'll be back after dark.

Buddy the Bear

Buddy the Bear showed up with his nose in the air. He asked do you folks by chance have a extra steak that I'm smelling?? I sure would enjoy a ribeye but a sirloin would do nicely as well.

Fun with the game cam.

Had to purchase a game cam and play with it recently. We got shots of raccoons, deer and even the neighborhood dog.But what I really want is a picture of the local bear prowling around at night. It's all good fun and the creatures of the woods don't mind a treat in exchange for a picture

Postcard Memories

Before Memorial Park today it was a green space called Lake Park. These old postcards are a excellent way to see the past which sometimes would be unknown. That is the Bayfield Hotel in the background that burned and was replaced with the present day Bayfield Inn.

Field Fishing

The days of Lake trout,Salmon or white fish are over for this fishing boat.Left in the field as a decoration and tourist interest. Sadly these old fishing boats are becoming more scarce.

Time to make wood.

Before the bugs come or the warm up you need to make wood. The pile was depleted by the long winter. There is no need for a health club membership in the north woods. If you need to burn some calories there is always the splitting and stacking.

Beach time

Just south of Bayfield is Bayview Beach. A wonderful spot to take a run with the dog. This is a pristine sand beach that is a summertime favorite. The water here warms up pretty well in July. Often to a warm 60 degrees in the shallows.

Mother's Day on the Bay

Weather is warming slowly and Bayfield is in Bloom. Next Friday Wisconsin Public Radio is doing a live remote of Garden Talk from Bayfield. Always interesting to listen and get advice.

The leaves are coming now but it's pretty chilly and hazy this morning. There was a chance of snow showers in the forecast but not likely. It is spring however and anything can happen.

To want to pass that way again

Rainbow

Can't have rainbows without the rain, without the rain sunny days would be meaningless.
Without winter who would enjoy the spring? It all has it's place! Nothing better then weather in my opinion.

UnBEARable guest at the cookout!

I've read that bears have a incredible sense of smell. I have no doubt as if you grill on the deck
they come around looking for a hamburger or a leftover. Mr. Bear Grills was not asked to come in for a burger or steak. He was out of luck.
